“You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a fever spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.”
—Woodrow Wilson

Thanks for taking time to visit my Web site! Wish we were meeting in person, but I hope learning a little more about my background helps you determine whether what I offer fits your current needs. You may also want to check out what others are saying.

Education

My education includes a bachelors' in Speech Communication from Louisiana Tech University (minor in marketing) and a masters' in Communications Consultancy from Oklahoma State University coupled with extensive executive training and/or certification in sales, leadership and creative thinking strategies with companies such as DDI, Learning International, Bergerac Group, Covey Leadership, Vital Smarts, and de Bono.

Corporate Leadership Experience

Before starting my career in consulting, I was determined to gain practical experience in the marketplace so I could offer clients more than theory-based knowledge learned in graduate school. I progressed rapidly in the corporate world and was selected to open new markets and turn-around troubled markets because of my track record for getting results while impacting morale. I served in division, area, and vice president roles, primarily in the competitive medical sales industry with, what is now, McKesson General Medical. Corporate clients frequently tell me that having practical, hands-on knowledge of how to affect business results through people sets me apart in the field of consulting.

Consulting Experience

In addition to eight years' of corporate leadership experience, I have more than thirteen years' experience as a consultant to executives and their teams. My specialty is facilitating team meetings and retreats designed for creative brainstorming, problem-solving, evaluating, planning, conflict resolution, and team building. I was Director of Organizational Effectiveness with HDI Consulting in Dallas, then Consulting Director for Johnson & Johnson's internal corporate consulting team before founding TEAMed UP. TEAMed UP is a team-focused consulting firm designed specifically to help teams think and work better together. My executive clients range from small start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, and I also consult with teams within schools, government, health care, ministries and other non-profit organizations. I have written three team leader handbooks: Playing Like a Team: A Collection of Team building Activities that Promote Serious Play and Lead to Serious Results, Facilitate Don't Frustrate: A Collection of Practical and Proven Tips for Facilitating Team Meetings, and Making The Connection: A Reference Guide for Small Group Ministry Leaders.

Speaking Experience

I am regularly asked to speak at conferences and retreats on competencies of team leadership as well as topics dealing with personal and professional effectiveness. In 2008, I became a professional member of the National Speakers Association; a membership speakers must qualify for based on frequency, experience, and compensation in the speaking profession. As an adjunct professor at McNeese State University, I also have the pleasure of teaching college students to become more effective and confident public speakers.

My Family

After several moves between Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Dallas (and making a mess of our friends' address books), our family moved to my hometown in Louisiana to be near my aging parents. My husband, Mark, and I have been married for 12 years. We met while I was living in Dallas and he was living in Boston. It was unquestionably a meeting of fate (southern girl meets northern boy) and we've been inseparable ever since! We call our family "Team McCormick." We recognize that given all the teams we are part of, none is more dynamic and affirming as our own family "team." Our greatest joy is raising our three active and, need I say, adorable boys (Chase 10, Bryce 8, and Pierce 4)!
